Yes he was. He could also blow up a pair of engines in a single weekend, and still have a third available so he could still race on Sunday.
I had fun on an EX for awhile.....V5 WERA, BOT AHRMA....blew a couple motors at Daytona. I never had any of the REALLY trick or cool stuff. Ran +2mm overbore, Cams....pretty much stock other than that. I had fun, was never all that fast or anything....and it was cheap.
Gather up abou t$1500, you can buy all of them that are race ready. You can then stack up the clubman class by putting people on them.
I see a real business opportunity here for someone to rent a bunch of race prepped EX's....Seems like a way to make some real money... @motion
He did it out of no where too!! I came back from a short retirement, and couldn't believe how fast his motors were!! Any idea what the hell he was doing? I know the AOD guys got a start with welding cranks, and some other shit on fzr 400's to 560' or some goofy number? But they were one and done motors! I remember reading about those builds, and they did some original shit!
I remember walking over to Sherry Dowling's trailer at a Daytona ROC and seeing 5 motors.Jeff Reel from C&W was building his motors then. They were pulling a motor,I asked if there was a problem,he replied no,just putting in a race motor. Him and Frank S really upped the EX 500 arms race,I was ok with 3rd that day......
Stock engines will run for decades...but when you 1.5-2x+ the stock HP...yeah you need to carry some extra's.
