In the 70's I was at a dirt track race where a dude was drinking in the pits. Come race time the other riders took turns punting him into the weeds. After a couple of laps he pulled off. Race was red flagged and restarted for real racing. Dude loaded and never came back.

I am surprised you did not have him tossed. I got my angel wings repoed a LONG time ago but there is things you don't do and that was one of them.

This was several years ago and I doubt if he's even riding/racing anymore. My point was not to create a lynch mob for this guy but to bring attention to the fact that getting high or being high while on track is completely unacceptable in my opinion. Your opinion may vary however

I was talking about the lunatic in question. I understand you saw some clown do it at some time. That is indeed unacceptable. To assume JRP does it just because he is known to enjoy a little weed is not cool.

JRP has touted his smoking, it's a fair subject to go after him on.

He absolutely is an attention whore - look at his name and everything he's done since he ran across our sport.

He is not nuts, he has too much money. He's eccentric. :D

Calling him eccentric is somewhat akin to calling you slightly larger than average.:D

I don't understand Project 269.. does it mean it takes 2 people to 69, or is it some kind of da Vinci code math for 71?

a few people, who know my love for motorcycle racing, emailed me that youtube vid.

these people know nothing about bikes.

Now they associate JRP with motorcycle racing.

He founded a company called CGI, that he still owns.

Kroger is their largest client. Everytime you use a credit/debit/gift/checkcard at Kroger, you are doing it through a CGI machine.

We use one of his competitors for our stores, but know full and well that his products are amazing.

He has a new check cashing system coming out that I might switch to for my check cashing/payday loan business.

His mobile card readers are also the best in the business.

Like him or not, dude is not stupid.

Fwiw I've known plenty of potheads in my day and IMO, the guys who don't care who knows they smoke pot are the ones you may have to worry about toking up before before heading out on track. On the flip side, one of my best friends likes a little reefer every now and then and I would venture to say he is actually one of the most responsible adults I know. But he is very private about it and I didn't even know for the first year or so of knowing him that he smoked. Guys like him I don't think you have to worry about because they seem to know the "time and place" to smoke up responsibly. But when the guy makes it known to the whole world he's a pothead... Well I question his judgment. Just my .02

When you say founded. Do you mean put up the money or is he actually the developer of the hardware/software? Did he actually come up with the idea and create prototypes before manufacturing the product? Or was he the money/marketing guy?

  17. In this case I agree with you. No one should smoke weed before going out on track. It's disrespectful and dangerous to others out on the track. One time a friend of mine told me that they smoked and rode at a track day, and I told them that they should never do that again. I don't think JRP smokes before he races though.

They are illegal in several states so you may not have them where you are, but depending on the model, you need $100 and you get paid next Friday, you write a $115 check post dated on next Friday. You bounce that check and you are further screwed with fees/additional loan terms/etc. The effective APR is insane. They are short term loans, for people with little/no credit.

  19. Basically a way to squeeze money out of poor people.

My curiosity was peaked in expanding into the payday loan business recently, haven't done any real digging yet but I need to diversify from my real estate ventures. Any opinions or gotchas?
