Isle of Man TT 2022, who's going from on here

Discussion in 'General' started by speedkelly, May 15, 2022.

  1. I cannot imagine he isn’t, he ages like Duhamel.

  2. I know they let (a couple I know of) riders out of their contractual obligations to allow them to switch brands. This is bad news, very bad news. I’d imagine a superbike would eat up a treaded tire rather quickly. Only positive is even though overall bike setup is different from roads to closed course most of those bikes were originally set up on Pirelli’s. Maybe not the exact chassis but most as BSB spec bikes with just better electronics that TT rules allow vs BSB. Certainly difficult situation with what ever direction the teams choose and I’d not want to be in their shoes.

Constabulary reports multiple supercars on the mountain racing each other. Not even Mad Sunday.

I think the Honda team switched to Metzeler.
1 rider I texted said the 213 GP Pro is "mega" and only about 1 second off in lap times as they use those on the Superstock bikes anyhew.
Awaiting replies from couple other folks also.

The slick being pulled won't make a difference - the slick and the treaded are virtually identical. Feel the same, perform the same, even wear almost the same. The only difference will be in wear - but even the SBK races don't truly shag the tire by the time they change it. None of the guys I know really care that they've gotta use the treaded for sbk

Dominic Herbertson won several too. I have become a big fan of his from his racer podcast with Chrissy Rouse. Dom is kind of a goofy character but the absolute definition of enthusiasm, he calls racing at the IOM "motorcycle porn".

Dom is cool and goofy but genuine good dude. First saw him on the TT documentary called "The Space Between"...
