or if not a quote, what he should have said: "The faster you go, the slower you age." I say Russell should go for it and win the damn thing. http://www.roadracingworld.com/news...ng-2015-daytona-200-superbike-race-at-age-50/
Smacks of a PR stunt to jack up interest...at least on the part of DMG. I've met Scott a few times, if anyone could do this and be competitive, it would be him...win though? Only if there was a tire debacle like a few years ago....
I don't like his chances but his comeback would interest me quite a bit. Still not as cool as Kevin Schwantz doing club races to me. But considering Ru$$ell's career ended at Daytona it would allow for a happier memory for all of us that were there that day.
There's no way 50 year old Russel shows up and wins after not having raced in years, he might qualify.
He'd absolutely qualify. He hasn't stopped riding. Winning would take something different for sure but nothing would surprise me with him. A flat out amazing talent.
He rides all the time at the Yamaha Champions Riding School. He can still ride fast. I have no clue how he compares to Josh Hayes or Cam Beaubier, but it would be cool if Yamaha hooked him up for Daytona.
It would be a baddass effort for sure... ala Eddie Lawson back in ...'93? For the win though...? that would be something.
Having ridden with Scott a bunch over the last few years...he's riding better than he ever has..... Ken
