Remember that these are politicians we're talking about. I honestly don't believe that many of them give a crap about guns or the 2nd Amendment one way or the other. People like VA Delegate Joe Morrissey are interested in getting votes, so they'll spout whatever crap they think will accomplish that.

Think about that for a minute. Everybody is in need of protection so why are some trying to deny the common folks that option? Are not our lives worth just as much as theirs? The fact that wealthy, and famous, people's kids are in danger doesn't mean the our kids are not? In fact, how many common citizens children have been killed compared to those of the wealthy and famous?

Who is going to expect you to pay a ransom? Of course those kids are in more danger than yours. Come on now, use something viable, this is just silly shit.

Mongo, it goes back to the point that if elected and wealthy people's children get to have armed protection why do they feel the need to try to deny it to anyone else? It doesn't make a rats ass worth of difference to the parents of all those kids in Conn whether Obama, or anyone else, thinks his kids are more valuable than theirs or not. The raw fact is that the common citizen's children are more at risk than his are. That is reality.

Once they get this done, then they can move on to the 1st amendment. Limit free speech to the technologies of the 1700's, no radio, no TV, no internet. Limit the news media to vintage printing presses only.

Maybe congress should be limited to the same technologies for writing bills.

Were any of those kids in CT the children of famous people? When was the last time a famous person's kid was kidnapped? The Lindberg baby?

No one is denying you this opportunity. Enroll your kids in a $30,00 a year school where there are armed guards. No one here or anywhere else is stopping you from doing so. Heck, start a charter school and raise funds to post multiple armed guards.

Statistically speaking the average kid is safer, in fact FAR safer IN school than in soccer moms minivan on the way to school but lets don't worry about the four children under the age of 4 killed every single day in car crashes...worrying about your kids getting shot IN schools is pretty silly when getting the TO school is by far the most potentially lethal activity in their daily lives.

It's all about acceptance. Somehow society has deemed it acceptable that a child dies in a car because it would inconvenience everyone too much if the mom had to put down her smart phone and her cafe latte long enough to pay attention to her driving, but it's unacceptable if some crazy person breaks numerous existing laws to acquire weapons and shoot one.

Your first paragraph presents no viable option for most people, nor any explanation as to why this is the only way people can try to assure school safety for their kids. Who made that rule?

Your second paragraph I would agree with, but it has nothing to do with the hypocrisy issue.

The same people who made the rule that not every one can afford a BMW 750for the kids and the finest security system and gated community with private security.

And I would disagree with that logic immensely. If you don't think that kidnapping (or worse) the CIC's kids wouldn't be a wet dream for some AQ operative residing here, you would be clueless. And even though you think it'd serve no purpose, many others think otherwise and believe it would embolden them and their cause.

With all that said, I completely agree with the premise that every single one of us should have the ability to protect ourselves/families, just like this nations elitists.
