Some days I wonder how these same people would react if someone moved in next to them and then found a reason to hit them with a lawsuit saying they need to move.
To be honest with all the stupidity of California and their crazy way of running the State it amazes me that there is any form of racing what so ever there.
Fuck that state Same assholes that raise the price on everything then wonder why there's a housing and homeless problem
Do you really think he's supposed to know about a post buried in the middle of another thread with no relevant title?
The guy that is lodging the suit is retired environmental attorney. He's bored and has nothing else to do with his time.
Lehto’s laws on the YouTubes had a video on this the other day. Nothing much added by him but it’s good that he covered it to add more eyes to all this.
Honestly this is why I made every effort to race there the last few years. Someday it will be gone, or inaccessible in it's current form. I think as it is, there's one club race a year and maybe one or 2 trackdays?
I just did a Lucky Dog endurance race at Laguna a week ago. 93db noise restrictions (strictly enforced) and apparently if they hit 20 violations over the weekend, they would pull the contract for next years race. It was one of the quietest races I've been to. Not sure what people are complaining about. Supposedly Laguna also brings in $300M local revenue to the area. It's really a great track, desperately hope they don't close it down.
There's no real money to be made for them as the coalition seems to be all retirees. I think he is the main guy with nothing else to do but be a tree hugger. They have another suit against a developer trying to open a grocery store. The city is only 30K people but the county is over 400K. The only thing that truly matters is A) Whether or not the track generates enough income for the county to keep it open. B) If they close it, do they have a developer for the land or will it sit empty. Essentially, are they willing to deal with the hippies over losing.. Transient occupancy tax: $8.7 million California state tax: $14.8 million Monterey County tax: $4.3 million Local spending: Almost $247 million
