A dude weighed in a 66lb. sailfish he took just out of the Pass in Destin, FL. It's entered in the annual October Destin rodeo and this year there was a division for fish taken from a paddleboard - there were 12 entries so far. Pretty cool. http://www.thedestinlog.com/news/pa...sh-took-him-wakeboarding-photos-1.28378?tc=cr Our boat, the Wynsong has weighed in a 90 lb Warsaw grouper - what a pig !
I would say something about being out in open water on a plank but it would be very racist. Hehe, cool story though.
I will be taking the kayak out for some night fishing tonight in the bay, just inside of the bridge and pass. Maybe I need to go out a little farther! That must have been one hell of a fight!
I gotta OK that one from a paddleboard. Helps the Rodeo out with the tourists watching the weigh in. From a boat, I agree. Catch, tag and release. Caught a 10lb Scamp too. Big for a scamp...the most delish fish in the sea. Chick weighed in a 79lb amberjack. You know her arms were toast! Search YouTube for paddleboard and Striped Marlin. A great video of the fight and fish swimming just below board. Video starts shaky but gets good 30 secs in.
i've got some friends that are big on kayak fishing, about 3 weeks ago one of them hooked a 40 lb grouper and took him on a ride, towed him nearly 2 miles out, and he was in a kayak with a sea/drift anchor! i can imagine hooking a 50-60lb sailfish on a stand up paddle board!!!
