First Ever Sailfish Taken From a Paddleboard, Destin, FL

A dude weighed in a 66lb. sailfish he took just out of the Pass in Destin, FL. It's entered in the annual October Destin rodeo and this year there was a division for fish taken from a paddleboard - there were 12 entries so far. Pretty cool.

I would say something about being out in open water on a plank but it would be very racist. Hehe, cool story though.

 

I will be taking the kayak out for some night fishing tonight in the bay, just inside of the bridge and pass. Maybe I need to go out a little farther! That must have been one hell of a fight!

I gotta OK that one from a paddleboard. Helps the Rodeo out with the tourists watching the weigh in. From a boat, I agree. Catch, tag and release.
Caught a 10lb Scamp too. Big for a scamp...the most delish fish in the sea.
Chick weighed in a 79lb amberjack. You know her arms were toast!

i've got some friends that are big on kayak fishing, about 3 weeks ago one of them hooked a 40 lb grouper and took him on a ride, towed him nearly 2 miles out, and he was in a kayak with a sea/drift anchor! i can imagine hooking a 50-60lb sailfish on a stand up paddle board!!!
