That's right....I'm effin biden my time to retirement! Shooting for the end of June. Need to liquidate my land stuff and moving onto the boat. Going to spend the rest of hurricane season in Charleston then taking the boat down to the Caribbean for I don't know how long. How are the rest of you old guys enjoying retirement? What are you doing to stay busy? Can't wait!
I'm gonna work until at least October to get 25 years in at this last job and reach full SS. May go beyond so that wife is eligible for Medicare. After that, who knows.
Clickbait-ass thread title. I thought you'd lost yer gahtdang mind! I tried retirement when I was 38. I didn't like it. Now I drive around and play with dogs. I like it. (today's gonna kinda suck, though... 19°. BRRR) You gonna replace the lead in the keel with dat silver? Nice couple of days there!
Congrats!!! I got a solid 30 years left. Unless my wife makes me quit. Luckily I love what I'm doing.
Well....how do I upload a damn pic from a PC? This is the boat but it's not MY boat. I've got some great ariel pics of her but can't find a way to upload them. https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/hunter-466
LOL...I WISH I had that much but there's about 9680 lbs of lead antimony in that keel. The silver will remain in the safe on the boat.
I turn 65 in 10 days but plan to work until 70 to max out my social security and also recoup from a divorce last year. I like my job and get 4 weeks a year PTO so I don't mind working as long as I'm healthy. I plan to continue to work part time for the same company after retirement because I think I will get bored being fully retired. There's only so much fishing and riding I can do. The sailboat looks like a great way to go, wish I could sail. I got my Medicare card in the mail last week. That will make you feel old!
At the moment, my retirement plans are somewhere around the bold face. The maxed out retirement age continues to change and I cant see me waiting until 67/70 begin to receive benefits, if they are still around when it's my time.
70? No way. I've got an after work life to live. I'll be 61 in June and that's enough for me. I'll start collecting SS at 62. Got enough cash stowed away to get by till 62 then I'll tap into the rest of the retirement accounts.
I'm 62 in September, I could quit today but my wife says if she works, I work. This may come to a head in the next 24-48 months.
I've been biden my life away. A little biden here, another bit if biden over there. Biden takes a lot of resources and personal sacrifices to even stay afloat these days. Been that way for a year or so now. Unfortunately, biden is the only way to go, for now. You know 4 or 5 years ago, I didn't have to put up with all of the biden shit. Clients just wanted the projects started without any of the biden bullshit. Now they all want bids. Eff biden!!!
Turn 66 in a couple months been retired since dec.2016,its great, fortunate enough to spend winter in fla.Still have 4 bikes up north so i keep busy riding and wrenching. Took a little time to realize that there's not as much urgency to get things done around the house that there was when I was working.I'm sure you'll love it, haven't met anyone yet that doesn't.Good luck!!!
