A PSA that might help others. I lost a dog yesterday to rodenticide. In other words ingestion of a poisoned mouse or mouse poison. Attempts were made but too little to late. I had a mouse invasion but use glue traps. I figure a neighbor got them also and used poison that somehow my guy got (thankfully Spitfire is OK). I strongly doubt it was intentional because I know my neighbors enough to be sure they are WAY above doing anything that heinous.

So next time you have a rodent problem use glue traps or snap traps. The grief you can save a person is huge. The pain you can spare a dog, cat or bird of prey is also high.

Thank you and blessings to anyone changing their habits.

    Sorry for your loss Sheep.

I use commercial style locked bait stations, where the bait blocks slide over metal posts inside, as we also have a dog, and am concerned for other strays that may wander by.

I did have a raccoon or some other critter drag one of them off one time, but they were unable to get it open.

Keep in mind, If your pets eat a poisoned rat, that can kill them too.

So sorry to hear. I lost one years ago to drinking anti-freeze also. I guess it tastes sweet. Just a heads up when doing work and draining fluids.

Oh man sorry for your loss!
I will definitely be sure to avoid them. My 15 yr old lab pup is always trying to snag mice. I only use glue traps myself, but never thought about others doing the posion and the mouse living long enough or still active enough for my dog to snag one up. I mean dang.......I guess it makes sense, but never really thought......wow.

Yeah I always keep any fluids I drain far away from where he can get them in the garage or in sealed containers and try to clean up any splash or spills whenever I see it around the area.

Sorry, that sucks. I put those green bait bars around the shop but put them where the dog can't get to them.
