    crazymofo Then i was like...Braaap!

    Gday folks.

Going over my options for my TLR racebike projects rear suspension. I see ohlins run the shock direct drive from the swingarm to the frame via plates that bolt to the mainframe in place of the rotary damper mounts.

Where as other set ups use linkage driven shocks.

So for road racing can a direct deive drive shock set up be made to work well? I do know the direct drive requires nearly twice the spring rate as that of the linkage driven.

    Thoughts?

    cheers.joe.

You should read up on the Showa shock mod onthe TL foums. One poster had a lot of good info on how the shock works and why there are different versions. It basically comes to down to space to mount everything. The wheel base is so short you just can't fit anything in there. There are some pitfalls of the ohlins which is lack of ride height I believe. I cut my frame to fit a CBR F2 shock and need to buy a heavier spring but that's the cheap and easy way to put a real shock on the TLR.
