BTW, the first thing that popped in my head was flag on the ground. So, I clearly see your point.

if those tire warmers hit the ground, they're doin' it wrong...

besides, if it makes you feel better, they're missing about a half dozen stripes and at least a few stars, so it's not really the flag.

What derby said, it's a r/w/b emblem meant to show patriotism - it's not the flag.

Let someone peel one of those things off, light it on fire, and start waving it around and let's see how many Ben apologists we have here...

Hey, those tire warmers are symbolic, right? The flag itself is symbolic...It's all about symbolism...

But hey, 1st Amendment Rights? Works for me...I may not agree with what you have to say but I'll fight to the death for your right to say it, or something like that...That's why God made M-1 tanks and whatnot...Fug it, drive on...

If one of those warmers caught on fire I wouldn't feel anywhere near the same way as a flag on fire.

This is going to get political fast...

Suffice it to say, everyone is entitled to their opinion on issues of this sort, or total ambivalence...

I know Ben and his crew are sending a message with those tire warmers, and I like the message, I just don't like the way it's sent...I know somebody would be sending a message if someone set one on fire and celebrated by waving it around....I wouldn't like that message so much...

    So it goes...

I think we should be mindful about how we display those colors...

You're taking it political with the comments about the 1st amendment and flag burning.

You can like it or not - it's not the flag. Period. You may want to take it as being the flag but it isn't. No more than any other rwb decorations people put up that are still seen as patriotic.

If someone uses anything in a political protest against the US I'd feel the same way whether it's a flag on fire or a sign saying death to the US. The intent on their part is what determines my reaction, not the method they use to convey it. I actually find people who do things like not light flags at night, or put them on cars/bikes/clothes backwards to be more annoying. At least the protesting people aren't ignorant.

Just out of curiosity, do you say the same thing to people using a beach towel that looks like the flag?

How about RWB bunting used to decorate things? Where is the line anyway? On star no stripes okay? How about stripes but no stars? No blocks of blue with some stripes nearby?

What if someone had a flag tattoo on there arm, then laid down in the grass. Should they have to burn it????

Those warmers are Bad ASS! Good for Ben - He's a proud Texan and American!!

Why did everybody think Ben was a prick in AMA - He's the same cool easy going guy he's always been........

You guys seemed kinda worked up by this...

    Huh....Well? Lesse....Bunting and tattoos...Yeah...

I dunno, what's pornography on this board? You know it when you see it?

Hey look, it's OK, I'm not getting all accusatory here, I don't think Ben and his crew mean to be disrespectful to the colors, and you know what? If they were that's their prerogative, I wouldn't have to like that either...

The flag means different things, in varying degrees, to different people...
