Winter's Bone. I saw the author of the book recently on 'No Reservations' and he said that it rings pretty close to true there in hillbilly-land.
One Eight Seven Really underrated. Samuel L Jackson is a teacher in a very violent school, who finally snaps.
Leaving Las Vegas and Schindler's List for sure. Both very good movies, but I remember feeling that I never wanted to watch them again.
Great choices. Spacey, Harrelson/Lewis and Hopper were all brilliant. How 'bout Lost Highway? Robert Blake was spooky!
either back door sluts 9 or Ghost I agree with buried now that I think of it. I hated it at first because the ending sucks, but I guess that's the point. Coming to terms with death, then new found hope just to be taken away at the last moment. Pretty bad last few moments he had.
these two take the cake hands down. both absolutely disturbing in a whole 'nother way. favorite dark movie: American Beauty. not near as "dark" as the other two, but still dark in its own sense and easily in my top 3 favorites.
Forgot about "kids" Never read the book for The Road but did watch the movie. What was the catastrophic event that started it?? Didn't cover that in the movie.
orphan was pretty disturbing as well until the very end. then it takes the edge of the fuckedupness off just a bit
