Hey guys, my friend recently got me hooked on parking lot drills. I started doing them with my 6 year old son as well, we are both on CRF50’s. The 50 is perfect for drills, but very cramped, I’m 6 foot tall, 46 years old.

Besides the BBR or Pro Taper adult bar kit, is there a more simpler option to getting me some more leg room? I do work on all my bikes but I honestly don’t feel like tinkering with the throttle cables and carbs unless I absolutely have too.

For example is there a bar mount that will allow me to move the bars slightly forward without touching any cables, etc

Thanks in advance for any info!!

Rox risers worked pretty good on my KDX, raises the bars 1.5"-2" plus you can pivot them fore and aft. I'm not sure if they make a CRF50 version but they are "universal"

Thanks for the idea, just found them but my CRF50 doesn’t have clamps, just bars directly on the top triple.

I think these are the ones you’re talking about…

For now, I am simply focusing on 2 main drills for myself and son. I have found that in order to adjust and learn better BP, parking lot practice is super useful. You are in the turn for as long as you want, adjusting your BP and correcting your vision, until you feel it's right. One thing I worked on this Sunday was opening up my chest to the turn, which helps with vision and turn in.

1-circles around a cone, letting my son get comfy on the edge of the tire and work on vision/throttle control
2-figure 8's in order to get comfortable with being efficient in dropping the bike into the turn and transitions, also work on vision/throttle control
3-letter J, turn and stop (this one will be more for my son to learn trailing and smooth stopping)

Here are some vids from this past weekend...

I actually did some tinkering last night, this is what I came up with. I added 2 spacers under the bars to raise them slightly. I will let you know if this weekend it helps. But putting the pair of CRF50's side by side, looks like I gained a little leg room which is really all I needed.
