Notice it's October now and they keep the death/case counter running even though a new season has started (typically Oct-Mar). Can't keep the panic level up if the counters reset back to zero like they do every flu season.

I wonder how many flu cases and deaths we'd have by now if we continuously counted them since time immemorial.
