That’s the best thing about this hated rivalry. You get to talk shit and we get to eat it till we right the wrong. Certainly wasn’t the same team we saw all year up to and after that game, but we took the L and it tastes flipping terrible. Only thing left to do is finish the climb to the top now.
Also, when OSU inevitably wins the Natty this year. Your $20+ mil payroll still won't be able to remove the MMMMMMMichigan asterisk from the season. Hey that's an idea, no asterisk but we'll just put a block M next to the record
Kinda funny the SEC's dominance fades precisely when other schools are allowed to pay their players. Things that make you go hmmmn.
The 105 rule is going to take it to another level with the portal. Parity is going to spread even further.
We’ll see - I think people might be underestimating Penn State a bit. I didn’t see the game because I was <clears throat> winning a golf tournament, but I believe PSU played OSU pretty tough when they played earlier this year and were stopped on the goal line for the win.
I'm a bit old school. I like listening to them on the radio while I'm working. They play all the games through Sirius.
So they're allowing kollidges to break the rules that they've been breaking for decades, but now the NCAA is telling them to only break the rules *this* much, and expecting the kollidges to follow the new rules. Makes sense.
The entertainment factor for the loyal fan base has gone the way of the dodo. It's business and money and nothing else matters.
Its not breaking the rules any longer... these players have agents and everything now. Name-Image-Likeness payouts have changed everything. There's one player (allegedly lol) that who barely played this past season, wants a 1-year deal of $700,000 and a personal driver in a Cadillac SUV. And for his family, 3 cars and all their hotel/traffic expenses paid to travel to all away games. Recruiting is like the NFL Draft, you now have a salary cap and agents, the transfer portal is like NFL free agency - they may as well just admit its the minor leagues now and stop pretending its 'amateur'.
This. I warned anyone who would listen NIL and a playoff expansion to 12 teams would weaken the importance of the regular season and the portal/NIL would ruin the game, and here we are. My team made the playoffs, albeit just, and I barely gave a shit, because they didn't deserve to be there and therefore weren't a threat to advance. They'll never be able to put the toothpaste back in the tube.
I'm not sure its ruined the game - just everything is out in the open now. One could argue, more teams with top talent will make for a better game, where the outcome could go either way. The years of single team dominance is over. I doubt you'll ever see a run like Bama had again. The value, and quality, of the coaches will be more on display than ever before. Look at the 'quick switch' 4th down play ND did yesterday. Got them a free first down at a critical point in the game.
