Hell, I'd bet 50% of guys hanging out in a motorcycle shop have never heard of Wayne Rainey, and I'm talking about the Japanese shops not the HD shop.

 

It's not the guys hanging out in Moto shops WR will be calling though ...

With all due respect, Shaun, America doesn't hold motorcycle world champions in the same regard as they do in other parts of the world.
The business plan you referenced is going to be the key. Just because he was really fast on a bike doesn't mean he will be successful at running a race organization.
Think of it like this. A guy could be the absolute best automobile mechanic in the world...that doesn't mean he can run an entire car dealership.
I'm not saying it is meaningless having him on board. It is very beneficial. Yes, it will be beneficial to have him attached to it, especially when it comes to dealing with the manufacturers. However, once you venture outside of the industry, which is what it is going to take to make this successful, his name and prior race results don't carry much weight.

 

I agree 100% on the subject along the line of the mechanic,seen it with my own eyes. Have been in the auto, diesel world my whole life. Worked for a guy / friend out of highschool. To this day is the best wrench i have ever seen and not just on cars, guy could fix anything. But he was awful, awful with people. Would tell guys to take there shit else where just cause he didnt like the color of it..

So hopefully WR will be able to relate to the people with the money and make them feel they are going to get a return out of there investment.

 

Don't forget that the other players have very deep resumes regarding business and operations within the sport. WR is the personality and the "face" of the organization, and brings credibility. the others who have run major teams both on the US and world stage, and have business credentials to boot, are there as well.

 

I dont think Waynes "power" in this will come from his reputation reaching outside of the motorcycle industry. I think it will come as putting some confidence back into the Series, Teams and ownership so that they can then take that outside of the industry and bring sponsorship in.

 

Yea, agree. That teams will know that if there is an issue WR will have the mind set to listen and help fix it to where every body is happy and not say my way or the highway.

 

Didn't Wayne run a major GP 250 and 500 team back in the 90's?

 

I was just about to post that. His successes aren't limited to riding. That doesn't guarantee success this time around, but it's a great start.

Exactually, and most seem to be missing my point but perhaps I have not made it clear enough for them to see it. WR is a past Multi USA champ and 3x WORLD CHAMP, so he is a SPECIALIST in the Business trade that will be being discussed/acted on.

WR and team have HUGE past Business experience and credentials to there names, together they are a TEAM.

WHEN the business plan is put in place and presented to the corporate world, A) it will present proffessionaly by Proffessionals too proffessionals ( See what I did there, they are all the same!) B) The Managing Director (WR) ( Lack of better description) will be the front man running the logistics of how the show is controlled based on past PROVEN expertise!

So all the way through this Gig, 1+1=2

The reason behind the whole major problem is the past, People being stuck in it and not recognising that the future had passed it by, and then along came the "Dunce Management Group" and conned all involved and shafted some of the manufacturers and others, and the septic tank just overflowed. ( Do not blaim the economy disaster any more for poor management)

People on here are just as bad really ( No insult just reality) to make some thing NEW happen, you have to approach and attack it with NEW idea's, if you keep saying it CANNOT or it will NOT get done because bla bla bla ie the PAST, well then BINGO, you are correct.,it will NOT happen.

But with the crew at the helm now, there is an incredible future ahead of us all ( And I am only a fan of your world) some of the very very best ever Bike racers come from your country and it would be rude of me to name some as I would do injustice to the others.

Business is simply a GAME, and who plays it best WINS
