For now, yes.....but way more from China and Japan. Long island watch guy had a video on some of his actual orders with Japanese movement and chinese cases/bracelets.
The email said to expect a 31% tariff if the law goes into effect. For anyone who doesn’t want to research it - MB&F is Maximilian Busser. Very high horology type stuff. A few years ago they had people asking for a more affordable option. They made the M.A.D.1 and, as I understand it, only sold it to customers who had enquired beforehand. Then they made others and there is a raffle every time to get the right to buy it. They are not particularly expensive, but they are unique and come from an incredible lineage. I’ve entered all the raffles, but never won before. I’m super excited for this one!
Big thanks to @Philip Mirgliotta for hooking me up with this amazing beauty! can’t wait to wear this next week to work
Been going on watch repair talk and watch forum to try and fix a few of my watches. I wanted to hopefully identify the best path forward and then how to accomplish fixing a dead movement. I have a sentimental time piece given to me by my sister some 20 years ago. Its a store brand from Torneau ( Tourneau | Bucherer: Shop Exceptional Watches & Fine Jewelry ) Unfortunately the movement died in it about 3 years back and I took it to a local small jewelry repair shop. For $100 they put a new Ronda 715 Harley (1 Jewel/Swiss Parts) movement in it. Fast forward 3 months and the new movement stopped working, and the shop wont warranty their work. I was not going back to that shop and other watch repair shops are 1 - 2 hours away. Additionally I dont want to pay another $100+ for a movement I could find on Amazon for $25. Based on their info I decided to order a new coil, and also pick up an ETA 955.112 7 jewel to swap in. Replacing the coil worked and got the watch working again, I gave it a good cleaning, and oiling. Then went to work touching up the band. I will keep the Ronda 715 and likely swap that in to some project in the future. I am getting my grandfathers watches, but he was no collector, so they are probably just generic watches or infomercial specials. Few shots of the recent repair, and my current collection. Old Coil^ New Coil V Im not in a financial situation to afford the premium luxury watches like a lot of the posts above so mine are mostly purpose, aesthetic, or mechanically interesting to me. A few automatics all with Sea Gull movement, all skeleton, some Movados, a Seiko, a Wenger/Victorinox and some others.
Mercedes should have partnered with Hamilton watches after Lewis tried to sue them for trademark infringement. That's my name, you can't use it!
He tried to sue Hamilton watches for using his name a few years back. https://www.espn.com/f1/story/_/id/...hamilton-loses-trademark-battle-name-hamilton
1) That's very cool that you were able to change the coil and salvage the movement!! 2) Pretty much all range of watches are covered here from $0.50 Benrus at a church fundraiser through to some of the super nice/fancy pieces you see. The important part is if YOU like it and wear it. I don't see this thread as a competition, but rather a place to learn about different watches I might not be exposed to.
