I love that story. I've been laughing to myself most of the morning after reading that story. I wonder what constitutes a "small Axe"? I can just hear it now: "He ain't been right since he done got hit in the head wit dat dare Axe"!
They are about 12 inches long and weigh maybe 2-3 lbs. Just big enough to "subdue" someone if you hit 'em over the head with it. The world is full of dumbasses...
It's an axe used to cut through certain places on the side of an aircraft (where there's no bulkheads or hoses... only skin) for emergency exit in case the normal exits are blocked or jammed. On the C-130 there's 2 axes and 2 (or 4 on some models) "chopping locations" located above the paratroop doors in the rear. [This message has been edited by Huey130 (edited 02-07-2002).]
