I opted to keep as much of the 96-99 look as possible for this build.

I do plan to have a OEM swingarm welded and braced to replicate a SBK unit of the era.

Drained the oil today. Super clean.

Coolant reservoir is bone dry, but the radiator is full to the brim.

Does this model have a weak reservoir like the ZX7R’s?

No clue. My bike came with a Gatorade remote reservoir zip tied under the dash.
100+ track days, never had a problem.

    That’s not a bad idea.

I can just mount a 250ml bottle up front by the lights.

Will I be ok removing the fast idle lever? I want to install the new race style buttons for the lights/signals/horn.

Wondering if the bike will throw a code if removed?

I had rearsets from the same mfg on my FZR. Not quite as aggressive a foot position as my prior unknown mfg set, but functioned perfectly.

I got one too, always wanted one. 1997 the last GSXR of carburators.

She came w a Fox shock, GSXR 1000 brake swap, APE camchain tensioner, rearsets,Yosh pipe a, was tuned perfect, and a prepped suspension.
Was said to be head ported w Yoshimura cams..but I haven't confirmed that?

Gosh Darn if that bike handles absolutely sublime..Outside of a TZ250, I've never ridden a bike SO utterly perfect...To me at least:D

NOTE* She NEEDS a steering stabilizer for the street!!!! She's tuned was to stiff for the street.
I had two scary as fuck wobbles on her....

    Any leads on a stabilizer?

I've since bought some goodies including..A NOS Yoshimura Hi mount race exhaust. And a swingarm, to brace as well.

I kinda fucked up and made a attempt to clean carbs on my own... So I'm gonna need help now, A guy here offered to help me out & assemble them for me..120+ parts to 4 carbs:(:(
I gotta get in touch w him ASAP.

Who's doing your swingarm? I'd be interested....Also any parts or contacts for fun parts, keep us posted....these are getting difficult to find good parts for at what I'd consider a reasonable price.

    Bike only cost me
    I think $1700.00? So gotta be practical...lol

My ongoing goal is to paint it in the Suzuka/Daytona Lucky Strike paintjob. 95% that's what I'm doing :)
I'd also like to do quickfills...but shit if retro guys want silly $$ for parts..
Any ideas on how your going bout that (quickfills?) ?

Like minded people would like to know...o_O:crackup:

    Very nice.

My buddy does all my welding and parts making. I’ll keep you posted, he’s very busy. Turn around time is months, but we’ll worth the wait.

The 98-99 model brings a OEM stabilizer under the triple tree. I’m tossing it (hinders triple tree stand), and replacing it with a K-Tech unit. They still make a kit for the SRAD.

The aluminum dual filler tanks are rare and hard to come by.

Beater Japan will still make you one, but it will be over 3k shipped.
