This race was on yesterday at the gym, and all I could think was what a horrible, horrible sport it's become.
I have been saying that for a while too. It's tough to watch... I say bring back N/A motors, then hopefully the performance disparity won't be so bad and it will save a lot of money with possibly more engine manufacturers too. Also a good ole clutch and shift lever would make things interesting as well.
I wonder how the mob is going to handle the F1 shakedown .... Shining spotlights at a venue that doesn't pay up to prevent people from looking out a window at the race is just plain evil. I imagine there's going to be some broken bones.
Being popular to the restaurants and clubs doesn't really matter honestly. But it's a good point that it will be the USA races that make it crash and burn in a couple years, the celebrities will be over it and no one will pay the cost anymore at this rate. You can fly to races in Europe for way less than attending any of the us races at this point especially Vegas
I have two sister-in-laws and a niece that are now huge F1 fans from Drive to Survive. One SiL makes a meal for whatever race is that day, yesterday was goulash. Spa will be waffles and fries. I wish they could have seen the glory days..........
Liberty Media is telling the casinos/hotels that they want a $2500 per person fee per the hotel capacity upfront if they want an “unobstructed view” of the circuit. Unreal.
They are clearly trying to position the LV race as being superior to Monaco in terms of prestige and cost. Hope it backfires on them. Assholes.
It would seem to me in that game of legal/business chicken, the casinos would have the local leverage to get Liberty to bow down from that position.
Doubt it. I think they will put up barriers around the ground level in that case It's all stupid though
On another thought... the hotels will jack up the rates for the rooms with views, so I guess you can't blame F1 for trying to get a piece of that.
F1 has always been like this as long as I can remember. How often has there actually been a challenge for the drivers championship? How many times was it a natural fight versus driver's missing a few races in the old days or reliability issues in any era. F1 has always been the world's fastest parade.
