I’m not asking for the Rolling Stone magazine or some stupid ass poll by the trades. What are the ten best bands in YOUR life? Not in order but just the ten that are YOUR bands? I’m having this debate with my kid so it’s worth asking you all.
Old-- Ozzy, AC-DC, Cheap Trick, Iron Maiden, Outlaws. Modern --- The Strokes, Ghost, The Offspring, Stick Figure, The War on Drugs
Painted myself into a corner, Should have said fifteen or even twenty but I posted ten, so let’s roll. with ten, Beatles and stones ain’t making the cut.
Not in order, just my top 10: Zao Poison the well August burns red The contortionist Amon amarth Ensiferum Shadows fall Old Lamb of God/burn the priest Deftones Metallica
AC/DC Def Leppard Five Finger Death Punch Godsmack Shinedown Ozzy/Sabbath Iron Maiden KISS Boston Great White Pantera Papa Roach Queen Tesla Sting/Police And yes...I went over...because you're right Dave....ten isn't enough. I actually left some off this list to try to keep it closer to ten.
Seriously though Older: Stones ACDC Jim Croce CCR Dr Hook Skynyrd Newer but are no more: Hightide Blues Temperance Movement Justin Townes Earle Deadstring Brothers Newer: Steeldrivers (who spawned Chris Stapleton)(or was it the other way around?) Kid Rock (yeah, muddafugga, I said it) Blackberry Smoke William Elliott Whitmore Whiskey Myers Apparently I can't count.
You guys apparently like 70//80 bad rock. Kiss and AC/ DC don't appeal to anyone unless you are Joe Dirt
I left them out of my list because they made one album that matters. It’s a Masterpiece, but after that. They kinda suck. Slash is the talent there. Go watch some old Janice Joplin performances on YouTube and you’ll see how Axle is a copycat of Janice. It’s quite interesting actually.
Led Zeppelin The Eagles Fleetwood Mac Pink Floyd SRV and Double Trouble U2 pre 1990 Lynyrd Skynyrd Steely Dan Tesla Van Halen
I used to have some doubts about the overall level of intellect and taste on this forum. You gentlemen have removed all doubt.
