Something I heard today made me think of @cortezmachine . I wonder how his side hustle in meta real estate mogulery is going.
I rode it up from around 80 to whatever their last peak was in the 110s and back down to the recent foray into the low 80s. Still in it.
cant find it now but there was some news about them splitting up the company or something like that. Im still under overall. Part of me wants to dump more in to them but super risky i believe
Apparently, Motion & Bird LLC is leading a trend that includes some major banks. https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2023-svb-exposed-risks-banks/
And France, and South Africa, and Mexico, and India, and Outer F*****G Mongolia. Being the world's reserve currency isn't something any nation actually inherently *needs*... but, like climbing a sheer face with no safety equipment, once you start out like that, and you get halfway up the cliff, you better gahtdamn not let go.
Yeah, having the petro dollar and carrying the biggest stick is coming to an end. It's all gonna collapse.
Before you write off the US financial house of cards, get out there and visit the rest of the world. Its mostly shit. Some countries are nice, but they tend to be extremely socialist. I love bashing 'Merica as much as the next guy with a few stamps in his passport, but so far, I don't see anything else that comes close to the investment havens we offer.
When have I said the Metaverse was a good investment? I’ve said it’s going to take over peoples lives, but have never said I was about it. Btw my ban was bullshit. I posted an article. I had no idea about the other thread going off the rails. I’m pretty sure bank fed bailouts and fdic covering all depositors and no stockholders is relevant to investors. I didn’t make any statements except the eye roll after someone told me I couldn’t post it. Is that really what got me banned? I gonna write mongo 1 paper letter a week from this moment forward until he makes a pinned thread stating so. I’ll make them look like different types of business mail so he has to open it every time.
people also love to liken a potential decline from the #1 empire as catastrophic free fall off a cliff, when in reality, its probably just going to eventually be a slow burn down to mediocrity. outside of losing a massive war on home soil, most previous ruling empires didn't just collapse into dysfunction, but rather slowly chipped away at their power and influence and still more or less existed fairly well. England didn't just disappear off the map. Neither did Italy or France. baring anything like 25% unemployment, i'd welcome us not policing the world for a while. and shit, even Spain and Portugal are decent places to live WITH 25% unemployment haha. we have uniquely beneficial geography for both commerce and defense, and a huge amount of food and energy resources, tech development, a large population with large buying power... it'd still be a naturally strong country even if you cut 40% of the military budget away and lost some global influence/control. we'll see i guess.
I think that this and some calls to his home after he gets home from work after 9pm will help him see the error of his ways. What people have missed with this strategy in the past is commitment. You really need to help him see your POV, and the only way to do this is through repetition.
