All y'all picking on this storm's name better get it out of your system. I got a feeling that they'll be retiring the name after this one. :(

At least this wasn't a normal false alarm.
    • Officials said the storm, which was upgraded to Category 4 shortly before 5 a.m. Eastern time on Wednesday, could strengthen to Category 5, the strongest classification on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale. Only two Category 5 storms have made landfall in the United States in the last 30 years.

I am on the South edge of Daytona and the rain has already started and it is quite breezy The storm has not made landfall and is still over 250 miles from here. This is a huge storm. Looking at Friday before it is out of here into the Atlantic.

I hope it goes into the ocean and stays, it will do enough damage in Florida. I hope it doesn't pick up strength and go in North of here and do more damage to others.

Looks like DeSantis did those families a favor by sending them to Martha's

I spent a summer working at the Boca Grande Club back in '86. It looks like the whole island is going to get hammered.

Stay safe. Think they missed a lot on this one. Hitting kind of outside the prediction cone and stronger than predicted.

My parents live in Punta Gorda and they went through this crap with Charlie a while ago.. Tons of devastation. On that one, the storm took a hard right turn so the surge didn't wipe them out. Sheesh, the surge is expected to fully submerge the entire area. They've evacuated to higher ground at my aunts house.

Wow, that is seriously huge. I think most of Cincinnati vacations or retires to the Ft. Meyers area. There's going to be a lot sad folks once it clears I am afraid. Be safe all!
