Watches are okay, I used to wear one a long time ago. With cell phones having the time on them...I wouldn't even look at a watch now. So to wear one now would only be for the bling factor.
There are plenty of places that specialize in straps/bands. I just used strappedfortime.com- got a new deployant for the Super Avenger. Easy to deal with as well... Cool watch Frank. No stress about jacking it up in the garage is nice.
I just bought one of these for a friend...not super slick or fashionable, but I thought it was pretty cool. It's an automatic Vostok Submarine, made in Russia.
Yeah, too rich for me too but someday I will get one. The dude in "The transporter" sports a Panerai.
Lately I've been wearing my Seiko Sumo (Japan only) My usual daily watch is one of the best tool watches out there IMHO, Marathon GSAR:
Stupid cheap Croton Pineapple daily beater joins the collection in the don't care if it gets smashed category. Reissue, different movement (Japanese automatic instead of Swiss), the old ones go for about $350 used. http://www.shopnbc.com/Product/Default.aspx?FamilyID=J177177
Yeah no shit.... I have a number of nice suits, and a number pairs of nice shoes (names withheld), but I can't say I'd recognize a Gucci suit or Prada shoes by sight. I have to say that statement sounds a bit...boffo. As an investor myself, I usually am a bit more understated, for strategic reasons.... That being said, that is a nice watch! And, best of all, it matches...
I agree 150% I'm wearing my Chronomat right now, looks great but it's a fucking load. My Rolex GMT-II 16710 is my reliable watch, that thing is a rock!
Breitling seem to be hit or miss. I hear stories from people about them being junk. My experience has been just the opposite. *shrugs*
I've had 2 Breitlings and both have been great. Sold my Chrono Avenger to fix the bike after a wreck but still have a Colt GMT. Been wearing it for 1.5 years as a daily wearer and it has been solid. Thinking about an Omega Speedmaster or Rolex Submariner next.
