I did the GNF at IRP in about 77 or 78. I started in 77 at 21. I am 52 now. I did "retire" in 91 for a while. Ken
looks like we're getting very close to a normal distribution (AKA bell curve), with a massive cluster in the 20-40 range. I actually expected more racers in the 30-40 range than the 20-30 range ($$$). keep the inputs coming!
I started riding a nighthawk 250 at 14. I had a kdx80 before that. Many bikes later, I learned about trackdays at age 25. I started racing at 26 or 27 and I am 30 now. I wish I could have got on track earlier, but I had less money then so that just means I would be in more debt I guess.
WHOO-YAHH!!!! Can't believe someone was as "crazy" as me! Do your friends and family think you're nuts?
First bike race 1969. First Road Race 1972 (a 24hr, at Nelson) . First WERA race 1973. I think that was when they first started. It was called ERA then. I have also raced Go Carts and Sports Cars during this same time. I will be 64 this year. Bill Bloom has been at it longer than me. Having a good year so far.
Beat it how? I started in March 2006 at the tender age of 52. I'm 55 now with one championship and two penultimate finishes in chanpionship opoints in the last three years. This season I am old and tired. Watch out at Summit Point. If I get my nap on, I may be fast for a minute or two. Here's my first race, note the orange shirt: VIR_Crash.jpg (16.7 KB) NOTE: I got up and finished the race in 12th place. Finished second in Senior Superbike points that season in NE and MA regions. I think Katie is onto something. I may have to bow out for a few decades to heal up and get my budget back to speed...
I started when i was 22 on an RD 350.When i turned 30, i became a dad and with that my bravery factor took a serious nosedive. At 46 i returned to the motocross track and just love to sail in the air.Oh to only have that feeling again of sitting up and braking hard at 100mph...
Great job! Didn't do quite so well my first year out, second in SR Superbike in SE and Central. It does seem like it takes awhile to heal doesn't it??
Started in 1991 at age 30 , raced 7 yrs moving from fzr600 to F2 to Tz250s, and endurance on larger bikes, then took 10 years off not riding at all - all work - no time for play.. then bought a wrecked superhawk to put back together and sell... made the mistake of riding it, now I'm back since 2007 riding SV in LWT... I'm 48 now and looking to move to HWT with a ducati.. Proof that it's an addiction......
Why isn't the '31-40' bracket, broken down to '31-35' and '36-40', like the rest? I'm 39 btw. 1st trackday at 24, 1st race at 26.
i just wanna know who the gay, chubby, black guy is on that flaming orange/blue cheater suzuki bike, no. 18
