1997 Honda CBR600F3 2003 R1 (Thus began the Yamaha addiction) 2004 R6 (tossed it into the cornfield by turn 5 at tally & then sold it & bought my new R6 after deployment)
1957 BSA C12 - seemed like a good idea, until I got it. 1983 Kawasaki AR-80 - good cheap fun. 1984 XR1000 - should have kept it. Many more since then...
1969 Honda CT70. Still have it. 1971 Honda SL100. 1972 Suzuki TM125. Thus started my racing(?) career. Later my first street bike was a 1970 Kawasaki H1. When I bought it it already had a busted tail light and mashed in rear fender.
196x-ish Ducati 250 Monza (the slow one) 1968 Kawasaki A7 350 - great engine once you vented the carb covers, half of bike's weight was the engine 1973 XL 250 Honda -
I could tell you were of good character.... My 4th bike was a '70 H1, then a brand new RD400F, then my 84 yellow RZ350 that I still have....
1985 Kawasaki Ninja 900. Bought brand new for $4,105 OTD 1988 Yamaha FZR $6,200 OTD 1986 Honda VFR-700 bought used for $1,600
Funny thing about the RZ. I bought it in '86 with 220 miles on the odo from a guy in SF. Came close to totalling it (and me) on the test ride. WAY different powerband than the RD350 I had at the time, and I went superwide on one corner and clipped a curb. I limped back to his house, wrote him a check (!) and rode it home. He couldn't handle it, and I got a bargain. $1100 IIRC. -jim
81 or so 650 81 or so CB 900 SS (ex race bike, trying to buy it back currently) 2000 gsxr 750. Rode on street a bit, did a few track days then promptly converted to race bike.
'75 Suzuki GT380 '85 Suzuki GV1200 Madura '88 HD Sportster Too many to remember since then. Although I'm gonna take a moment and reminisce.
I bought one 5 or 10 years ago in the parking lot of a swap meet to restore. My first bike, memories with Dad, etc. Then I came to my senses and it went on to somebody else. I didn't like it THAT much.
You can (for the most part) get away with a lot more hooligan shit on a 50 than you can on a 600, which a judge reminded me of in'89. "Exhibition of Speed." Six months with no license. Dragging knee in the Laguna Seca parking lot on a YSR50 at the GP in '88 was frowned upon by the Monterey Sheriffs or then, the Mil Police. -jim
