Just read a thread on the adv forum about running car tires on bikes..... It's like a train wreak....I just can't look away at the catastrophe. Why do I do such things to myself
I know a guy who has an st1000 or the like. He runs a car tire on the back because he can get 80,000 miles out of that tire vs 7,000-8,000 mikes out of a motorcycle tire. He says the only issue is when you get to the edge of the tire it's a little square compared to a motorcycle tire, buts he's doing mostly long distance touring. If you have to buy 10 motorcycle tires to get the same mileage that you get from 1 car tire it's a no brainer...
Goldwingers tend to be the cheapest squeekers in the motorcycle world and even they can get 15-20,000+ out of a rear tire...lol.
Goldwingers rarely lean over enough to use 2/3 of a motorcycle tire anyway. Oh, and if you think Goldwingers are penny-squeezers, you haven't met the average Guzzi owner.
Guess I see myself, even w a touring bike, riding the piss out of it and want proper handling vs mileage.
Seen a guy using one on a cruiser yesterday. Main problem I can foresee is hydroplaning. Bike tires don't hydroplane
Allegedly, there is a dude on a yellow Goldwing that says he is 15-40 seconds faster at the Gap on a ct vs a mt.
I'm currently watching a video and the guy says that its your constitutional right to put whatever you want on your bike..."Just like the right to bear arms"! lol But he is actually against a ct on a mt...why cause you can't sue to manufacturer if you have an issue. But it funny as hell to listen to his passion and emphasis on words.
Pfft. Racers are the cheapest. Give them 10% off they'll bitch they didn't get 20%. Give them something for free and they'll bitch they didn't get paid to use it.
I used to ride a Zook with a car tire on the back. A 10" M&H slick. The car tire worked well, 1.22 60ft, went 0 to 100mph in 4 seconds, 8.85 @ 145 in the quarter....
