Friend of mine is in a KISS cover band, went to a show last weekend. They seriously nailed it. Loud, growly guitars and intense drumming, and absolutely no ability to harmonize.
When I was thinking of generating this thread, I wasn't thinking about musicians who had mental issues, or were odd off stage but cranked out brilliant music that gets heavy air play (Prince, Michael Jackson), or even musicians that are perfectly normal off stage but used odd theatrics for their brand (Alice Cooper). I nominated Les Claypool because he would show up on stage wearing a monkey mask, a pith helmet, or sand goggles, or even dress up like Willy Wonka. Pick any one Primus album, any one Frog Brigade album and his take on the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory soundtrack and you will have very weird song topics, weird lyrics, weird lyric delivery and weird effects. Plus, he introduced the Whammola to a broad audience. I would put Frank Zappa up there too. They both explored realms mainstreamers would never touch (Zappa's "The Black Page", et al). Claypool is one weird MF'er. I guess that is his "brand".
They are in In I missed that any of them were under 18. The little what I saw looked like the typical Dom/sub relationship. messing with kids is a nogo
