If that's what it takes to be a man, what do you say we go dress shopping for me later? I'll stick to compression braking and valves thanks.

I second Mongo's vote for the roster. It would be like a vintage race, only with vintage riders on a new bike [IMG]
If i can remember out loud for a minute, I remember when MM was running at OakHill back in the late 80's right when he signed up with EMGO, he was so much fun to watch, and is part of the reason (with a handful of others influence) that i wanted to roadrace. Then he taught the Hammer school that finally pushed me into the sport, he appears to be my muse [IMG]

SBR vs. Arclight was a lovefest compared to this.

But seriously, in the two years that SBR won the Endurance Championship, I was a crew member for Arclight. Sometimes we beat SBR, sometimes they beat us(unfortunately they beat us more than we beat them [IMG] ). In those two years neither team (that I am aware of) ever said anything bad about the other team. We had respect for SBR, and I imagine that they had respect for us. We would drink their beer at Summit Point (after they won the race, dammit!), and Nurse Susan was always available for medical opinions.

I remember in 1998 at Texas world, Szarek fired up the R1 after a pit stop. Evan had a gasoline soaked rag in his pocket, and the the exhaust backfired and lit it on fire. After the fire was out, Susan ran over to make sure he was okay.

Hell, we had SBR stickers on our quads!

It seems so long ago compared to what I am hearing about now. But, of course when it was SBR vs. Arclight, there was no BBS. [IMG]

Can't we all just get along?

John - Glenn won't be able to ride for SBR or Vesrah. He'll be busy on the unforgettable shade of yellow Virginia Breeze OW01 riding with Craig Gaver and Jeff Atwell (keep your fire extinguisher handy). And unlike Indy in '94, I'm sure there will be a battery installed that will last more than 3 hours and 50 minutes.

As one of the old timers... er... experienced people, I mean... here, I recall Team Hammer, Ontario, Speed Boys, Genesis, Human Race Team, Dutchman, Swine Dudes, Virginia Breeze (aka Virginia Geeze [IMG] ) etc. No offense intended to teams that I failed to mention - there have been a huge number of them. I was part of a "local" team paying for track time at Loudon, Pocono and Summit on a mix of machines. The thing that always impressed me was the competitiveness of the teams was tempered by a willingness to help their foes in the pits and off the track.

Case in point: We were running a used and fairly abused 750 Suzuki at a Summit Point 6 hour when we had to changed front brake pads. Another team in our class jumped in and helped us get back on the track. We finished 5th in Heavyweight Superbike, thanks to guys who we were racing against.

A note on cheering: again, at Summit Point, JU, then-Race Director Harry Morse and I (as Assistant Race Director) were in a conference. Virginia Breeze was locked in mortal combat with Team Suzuki Endurance, (Szarek v Martin) with VBR on the verge of getting it's first Overall victory. One of my daughters (about 17 at the time) was a WERA Registrar/Scorer, and a part-time scorer for VBR. She walked in to the building, informned us that VBR was leading TSE on the track, using the words "we're beating Suzuki." Unfortunately, she was wearing a WERA Official shirt at the time. I recall telling her that WE are WERA Officials, not VBR, that she should be impartial as an Official nor is WERA cheering for one team over another. Chastised, she left with what I now know was a lesson learned. JU never said a word or change his expression, but I believe he knew this was a father-daughter talk as much as it was talk among Officials.

To those who have not seen John, INSCRUTIBLE is the word that comes to mind. Don't play poker with him if reading you opponent's face is part of your strategy.

JU, Michael Martin and Kurt Hall on a Keith Perry-tuned machine vs Szarek, Junge and CU at a track near Hazbin? That's gotta be VIR, Summit or Rausch Creek. I'm there!!

Sean, just don't let those three enter a CORC race! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

You guys are really giving me the endurance bug again. If this Vintage Endurance Reunion Tour takes place I'll definitely have to dust off the old Firestorm bike and get out there. I wouldn't want AOD to be alone out there in MSB land.

lizard84 My “fuck it” list is lengthy

    Yea, yea...
Sounds like a good story, Must be, since your allready writing in HEADLINES.

    Want a better one?

What would make better copy then Overdogs with more money than God (compared to other club racers) going to a Wera Endurance race you ask?

How about those same Overdogs, which would now be Underdogs, going over & trying the World Endurance Series, Hell not even the series, just a story on one race.

Now THAT would be a Headline.

    TEAM SUZUKI RUNS

Bol d'Or 24 hour or Spa or how about the Suzuka 8 hour

To me, the "24 hours" would have more appeal because you would be running with those that run the series & not just the superstars that run at Suzuka.

Think of it John, Think of the mileage you would get out of , TEAM SUZUKI ENDURANCE TAKES ON THE WORLD & WINS!!!

I've never even seen the thing. Where is it parked? Where are the keys? What color is it? If I'm gonna get paid off I should at least actually get the payoff, shouldn't I?

    Cheer for your personal favorite.

For me it would be like CU and his brother racing, maybe like it is for Earl Hayden when Nicky and Tommy race. I love both those kids. I am so happy and blessed to have the opportunity to work with my own son and John Hopkins in racing. Every time I get to the track I am so happy to see them, they are both a true pleasure to work with. And it's so exciting when they do well!

Damn...I sound like a total racing parent...

Parents being excited for their kids...what will be next? Cats & dogs getting along? AMA & WERA working together? Pennzoil & Vesrah being friends?
