Yes!! That has always been the problem!! The opening act never pays to show up and risk ones life!!! Where does anyone pay to put on a life or death event.?(Give examples) Remember this the next time your watching a race, and someone has crashed out.Gate fees for racers have, and always will be bullshit. No racer gate fees,no event.Work it out with the track, but quit fucking the racers, they have enough to deal with. TAKE A POLL
I had a friend that managed a pizza place. He said that he spent hours putting all the math on paper, and it worked out to when you factor in the ingredients, electricity, man hours, building rent, equipment costs, advertising fees, cardboard boxes, he even broke down the insurance premiums into a daily then hourly rate, so on and so forth.......it costs him $4.85 to make a large pizza with everything (all meats and veggies, plus extra cheese) on it. He charged $19.50 for that pizza. It may be different for different chains, but that is what his figures were. That is why you see so many pizza places popping up everywhere.
Regardless, someone should do the math and get a factual number, urine is 95% water. So, most of that 14% is water too.
Club racing isn’t a spectator sport. Period. What you’re saying is essentially the way it’s done in pro racing. Your hard card (pro license) gets you in the pits. But at the beginning of the season you still have to buy your license which is probably just about as much as fare fees at each track if you combined them.
It’s not “fucking the racers”. All these people you claim coming into the gates and standing around are there with the racers as close family or friends. Nobody is coming because they heard “toofpic” is in town for the wera formula 2 novice championship” I know it’s a hard pill to swallow, but I’ve been there. In fact I would put myself at maybe 3-5 people in the country that have done it from all sides. Racer Promoter Track days Race days Track owner I assure you, the org is not getting rich off your $20 gate fees. When people complain like this I tell them to First start adding up prices. Figure in your total estimated expenses. Track rental Insurance Workers Supplies Ambulance Awards Then write that number down and do some math and figure out how many people need to come through the gate and sign up to Race. Then usually before we add all the others they kinda back down and say holy shit, how the fuck DO YOU MAKE ANY MONEY
Wait... you mean you're not in it for just plain ol benevolence on behalf of 2 wheeled riders? You want to profit and continue to do so in the future? Motorcyclists are so fickle!
Lol generally I have a goal in life to break even at racing. If I win the lottery 4 tines I should be close!
the only thing I think f***s the racers is the forced AMA membership that seems to be the hot ticket these days.
an AMA membership is required for offroad racing too (most harescramble series, national enduro, etc). I hear it's got something to do with lower insurance costs if the event is ama sanctioned. without the required membership, they don't back the event, higher insurance costs for promoter putting on the event. i think.
