Looks like Roy has his opinions based on his experiences and he is welcome to them. This quote is the real gem of his rant. If gate fees are an issue, stay home.
That is just for the Tpm track day on Friday So the track day guys don't have to pay ccs gate fee and racers don't have to go out and come back in Friday evening
I find it hilarious how many riders will pay the tracks for camping and then power and still bitch at us about 20 for the gate Something to remember though is the power bills when everyone is plugged in are huge plus installation and upkeep of all the outlets and other infrastructure. It's not a huge amount of profit.
If we could go back to track rental being a couple grand and a grand for insurance, ambulance at 200 a day and volunteer corner workers and officials sure
Cost me $19 for the blonde pain in the ass and I to bowl a string on Wednesday night. Just the bowling. And the shoes. One string. Pay the fucking gate fees and be happy you've got races to go to.
We have been able to do that with a number of tracks and track day orgs. Once we start racing though it's tougher.
People need to understand what they spend money on, whether it's $2 or $200. Power bill, everybody gets. Gate fee when you're the product, harder to understand. I bet (and this is not a suggestion) that there would meet a lot less resistance if it was packaged into entry fees and that the amount was the same. It's just the way the brain works when you're spending your money.
Providing power is not just the cost of the electricity used. There is a component on the bills just to cover the service size, so for a location like Barber, they are paying a lot just to provide for anticipated need.
It would have to be more added to each entry to offset all of the non riders who pay gate fees (more of those than there are riders, gate count is usually 2.5 or more of the rider count)
