I lived outside Abilene for high school. Same week could have 70s and dry and 16 and impassable snow on the roads. As we weren't little pussies yet, school was rarely canceled. I remember riding one of my RDs in every type of weather even the snow because I hadn't realized just how painful broken bones were yet. I would put on extra clothes more for cushioning than the cold. Lace up paratrooper boots from the Army Navy store to keep my ankles steady as I kept both feet out like skis. During the summer the rain could kick up dust on a plowed field next to you and not get a drop on you. What would be windstorm elsewhere was called breezy on the news. Place is full of extremes. Weather, people and critters.
It's crazy in SoCal too. 60 today and sunny. By the end of the week it's going to be like 64 and sunny. Winter is brutal.
My friend in my home down, 58601, has his youngest daughters wedding today in a half hour. It warmed up to -9 today for the outside photos.
