By product of us being set up as enemies. The hijacking of the two party system to drive a wedge between citizens has been very effective. It keeps our eyes off the real enemy. Predictably, it is escalating out of control into something worse than its hijackers intended.

I don't think so. Nixon deserved it, but he didn't have to endure the 24/7 news cycle on multiple outlets. Most of the Dem office holders have had a largely sympathetic, if not supportive press. None prior to Obama had to deal with pervasive social media exposure. So, no I don't think I missed much at all.

Show me one politician, ever, who had the entire media, academia, entertainment, and half the population attack him, his wife, his policy, his supporters, his children, his friends, his businesses, his hair, his clothes, his diet, and EVERYTHING about him like Trump has had to endure.

True, but that was a very short duration event, and that was all about Hinkley's obsession with a lesbian actress (don't you know her exit from the closet was a particularly bad day for him). It wasn't 24/7 vitriol up to and including character assassination of family.
