OK I did a search but didn't come up with much. this is for a '02 can get a test light to "glow" but that is it....... approximately 7ish volts????
put down the pipe when working with fuel. not much useable info. 7ish volts sounds about right. prolly just the bulb. edited: get a volt meter and ohm meter... test lights are limited by the type of bulb.
that is with my fluke meter, using the test light as resestance. will a switch from some other bike work? why three wires ,one is ground
Re: Re: Re: SV low fuel light Good friggin luck. There are plans on svrider.com never got it to work. There are 2 sensors in the tank, upper level and lower. That's why 3 wires.
I went to svrider but could not locate it???? this should not be this hard. both sensors seem to start "slow" then build up. I guess this is to keep the light from flickering?
From what I've gathered, there is a relay or something in the stock guage cluster. On the 02 and older SVs, you would get a flashing then solid light. That's why the two in the tank.It was in the tech or how to section on svrider. I just checked, it's no longer there I figure since it did not work, they pulled it.
Somewhere on the web is a homemade gauge cluster plans. I'm sorry but I can't find them again. On his plans he had a relay that would turn on the "low" light and a flasher that would activate for the "really low". I'm with Gary, I never could get any of it to work.
Mine works, but I just use the lowest fuel level light. I have a spa tach and homemade dash with idiot lights I bought at Radio Shack. I just used the wiring diagram from my manual, found the corresponding wire and a ground. Doesn't blink, just comes on solid when the fuel gets low.
I did same thing major did. I am still researching how many laps I can get if I flub and go to grid with light on. I am all for fuel tanks with no baffles so I can go back to claw hammer fuel gauage. It should be possible to put one more lamp on a race dash, and run it to the other fuel lead, so on ewould come on at first, and when both came on you were at the lower level. Then you wouldn' tneed the stock relay or whatever it is that makes the light blink at first. correct?
