So I'm watching Airplane Repo on Discovery channel. And I swear that Steve Rapp was the hired pilot to repo the plane!! His face was blurred out, but I recognize the voice and walk and the build. I swear it was him! He was helping repo the plane, not getting it repoed from him. Anyone see this?
They had him blurred out and said he was a local instructor and didn't want to be identified. So I doubt he would want credits. But you never know how much of these shows are bullshit!
He called me once about an airplane I had for sale. I think he couldn't believe I knew who he was and that he won the Daytona 200.
Well that one is staged and total BS for sure.... You do know they are not really repo ing those planes right?
I've been in the aviation business for basically my whole adult life, most of it in aircraft sales. I have never heard of a forcible airplane repossession, so I'd say that show is 100% fake. I did see a bank remove the propeller from a Mooney once to make sure it didn't disappear.
What? Reality shows are fake? Wasn't someone that is very prominent right now in the news from a reality show?
Ok....but they still have to go seize it. I know all the drama is bullshit, but they do have to go get it.
Forbes did an actual article on the industry. I seem to recall a far more detailed one floating around. Sounds like it does really happen, but I doubt that show is actually real. http://fortune.com/2015/09/29/airplane-repossession/
I'm sure it's real - if you remove all of the drama and concerns about local law enforcement and so on.
