Wrong. We know he's an admitted, unabashed bigot and should not be a police chief. He also showed signs of dementia. Apparently even he agreed that he's not fit to serve.

What's amusing is the barrage of hate-calls from the "non-racists" to the PD, Town offices and any business in town that they think they can devastate.
Tourist cancelling plans, whatever they can think of to hurt people who weren't involved.

He is not an "avowed racist", he explained the remark and did not apologize for it. He resigned from the position, which is elected.
There is zero evidence that he did anything in his official position that could be construed as racist.
Sorry, I'm not willing to shoot the guy for one ill-considered remark made in anger.

 

It's funny how often the justification is "he/she made the remark in anger."
