So I am currently in the lead for points in the B sbk and I wasn't planning to go to Grattan in Oct but considering this and that I'm in 2nd in C ss and sbk I'm thinking maybe I will. What happens when you win one of these things? Cash money prizes free parts. Maybe a swift kick in the nuts? Some bent Carrillo rods?
That would be larger. I would really regret not going because I don't know the next time I will be able to race as much as I have. Then again I didn't plan to race at all this season.
This. I won 3 Regional Championships last year (2 on the Duc, 1 on the R6), and don't have anything to show for it "tangible". But I loved every minute of it. BUT, it was the first time since I started racing that my work schedule somewhat aligned with the race schedule. I was able to make every weekend except 2 of them. I might could have won another one on the R6 if I could have made those races, but couldn't help it. Like Papa said, don't miss this opportunity. You will regret it.
Look at it this way.... How many people ride sportbikes but never make it to the track? If those that do, how many get bumped up to Intermediate? How many of those people stick with it long enough and progress to Advanced? How many of those people actually get their race license? Of the people that do, how many are good (and consistent) enough to earn their Expert license? Of those that do, how many can run fast and consistent enough all season, while avoiding injuries and mechanical issues, and earn enough points to win a Championship? I think "we" sorta get numb to all of this because we are in it, and because we talk about MotoGP riders a lot. But when you look at the whole scheme of sportbike riders all over the nation, being able to win a Championship is a very rare thing. Seize this opportunity, you never know if you will get another one.
Nah I didn't. But it's my fault, this has been the roughest year of work I've had since I started, and I haven't been able to get to the track to get them.
Weird, Mongo always wrote me a check for like $1000 per championship. Sure, it covered a tire bill for the weekend but that is still better than nothing.
