I have a program that I can install but not run. It says it needs to be on a windows 98, 2000 or ME and all three of my machines are XP pro. Is there a way I can trick this thing into running without installing a virtual machine? It seems XP should be able to do everything that 2000 does.

Create a desktop shortcut for the application.

"Right click" on the shortcut, and select Properties.

    Click on the Compatiblity tab

    Configure as needed.
