I enjoyed watching that ASRA race, @MELK-MAN. You closed those guys down pretty good and I thought you were going to be in it for the draft until that chicane mishap. Daytona is always a blast.
Why ??? No different then riding any other track in the rain. Dang... I didn't know that MELK-MAN was Melka. If I would have known, would come and say hi and ask some advice on how to rock-it like you at Daytona. First time there for me and although extremely intimidating, I loved the experience.
Mmmm.. well you got me there, cause I don't know those tracks. But raced it on Sunday and did,'t seem different then riding up here on our tracks (Canada) I felt comfortable during the GTU race
The reason many of us consider it dangerous is that water does not stay on the banking. So rain tires overheat rather quickly during the run around the banking. Probably ok on a lightweight bike doing 125 but I wouldn't do it on anything bigger. Just my 2c.
The rear stepping out on you thru NASCAR 4 at 180mph on a damp track is exciting lol. Im not a big fan of Daytona if it's damp or wet.
Ah ok... guess I risked a lot by running in the wet. Glad it worked out in my favor and most other riders. Hey just checked your name and we raced a few races together
Must've missed every time they announce his name..."The Melk-Man, Greg Melka". At least that's how David Graham always announces is, I'm not sure if the Daytona guy does the same.
What would that be? More dust on the track? They still race there during the day. They just did in fact this weekend. One of the races was in the afternoon, and a lot of the warm-up and practice sessions are during the day.
that would of been 1995 on my 1992 RGV250 and D-superbike had 3 wave starts! I just picked up a 96 RGV250!
