"...chicken producers are growing bigger chickens to sell in parts." Bigger how? Lettin' 'em live longer, steroids or other questionable supplements? Maybe they found some Biblical "manna", which translate as "What is it".
And here I thought mass-produced chicken was different than range chicken. Well, I ain't no farmer, but I hope it's natural breeding/feeding that produces their product.
I used some sketchy olive oil on the sprocket that is gear driven... it is now off road chain lube sticky after 55 min. cooking time. might use a different lube next time to keep the squeal down.
I've never lubed mine. I have an occasional squeal but I think it's related to the sprocket slightly wobbling on the skewers or its riding in the "pocket". While off balance and/or heavy loads can get it to squeal noticeably, it just reminds me that goodness awaits.
lol the "pocket" it is consistent like a drummer lol... most rudimentary friction bearing surface i've ever seen
Olive oil has a lower smoke temp, cooks off, gums up. Go with something food safe but high smoke point. Sunflower, sesame, peanut all are about 450. Mineral oil wont go rancid, but smokes around 400.
