I loved sci-fi novels as a teen and I still like sci-fi movies. For anyone else with a similar interest this article about US military robots is quite long but very fascinating.. Besides the Predators we hear about (and the Ravens and Reapers and...), they also have ground robots firing M-16s, grenades, rockets and claymores. They are good for anything that is “dirty, dull or dangerous.” In 10-15 years it really does look like there will be robots fighting other robots while humans observe.
Wait until the first friendly-fire incident happens, and it's some SoCal software nerd that gets courtmartialled.
