Amazingly good actor and a life well lived.
My personal favorite movie he was in is "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner".

Gah. What an impressive body of work in an interesting and transformative period of time, navigated with such grace and integrity. He and Rod Steiger in In the Heat of the Night were absolutely electric. And Guess Who's Coming to Dinner... Lilies of the Field...

So long Sir Sidney Poitier. We miss you already.

    I met Sidney once.
I drove his lovely wife Joanna home to Beverly Hills. She invited in to use the bathroom before heading back to San Diego.
Sidney was sitting in his recliner watching tv.
He stood up and introduced himself and I shook the legends hand.
I took the wiz and Sidney went to the fridge and gave me a bottle of water and thanked me bringing his wife home :)

I just looked up that trip and it was 15 years....sheesh. 12/17/2006

Weird stuff. I watched To Sir With Love 2 weeks ago for the first time in 40 years and Sidney dies. Watched The Last Picture Show on Monday and Peter dies.

I am not watching Outlaw Josey Wales any time soon!

I didn't know that. Thank you for the picture. It takes him up a whole 'nuther notch, if that's possible.
