Question for the cops

I know it is different everywhere but something happened to my youngest daughter that has me scratching my head. She got tagged for speeding but after she got the ticket the cop told her that he needed to take her picture, pulled out his phone and snapped a photo. As far as I know that is not SOP as I have never gotten my picture taken when I have received a driving award. But I am not thin, cute and 19 either. Not trying to get out of the ticket because she did not notice the speed limit change sign so the ticket was deserved but if it is some perv with a gun just trying to fill his spank bank I want to make his life miserable. If he is being a perv the least he could have done was give her a break on the ticket...
Anyone ever hear of photos being a requirement when giving a ticket?

I am planning on but I am in Alaska right now. I will be back home tomorrow afternoon though so I will be looking in to it a bit more. It does help that one of the local lieutenants is the dad of one of my oldest daughters friends. I will be hitting him up for info too.

She looks exactly the same in real life as she does on her DL. I do think it has more to do with young, thin and cute but wanted to make sure it was not SOP before I started to get too carried away.

 

Cops will do this for suspected gang members. Is she latina with tear drop tattoos? If not then it sounds like a creeper.

Pay the ticket before you start the shit storm so it doesn't look like your just trying to get out of the ticket.

If your daughter forgot her license he may have used the image to compare to driver's license pictures on whatever your state uses to look up drivers records or criminal history to verify her identity.

Other than that, im at a loss for reasons.

There is no need for that, cop lied. He has her license number on the ticket and her picture is available through DMV. I'm guessing the cop has other motives for the pic, especially on a personal phone.

What kind of PD? Big dept or small? If it's a big dept, there would be a clear policy if they were supposed to and it probably would have been discussed in the news as an issue when they started doing it. If it's a little dept, it's probably some overzealous super-cop who thought it would be a good idea to keep track of his collars. Or it could be a perv, but as easy as it is to get porn, that's a lot of risk to take for the spank bank.
