Can you post pics of the helmet? Most times drops don't actually hurt the helmet, it's a head inside to cause damage to the foam

A five-year-old helmet? Take the $600, give him $300 back and say, "You're a stand-up dude. I never thought I'd see this. Thanks." Or take the $600, give him $550 back and buy a new visor.

I’d say save your beer money and invest in a lovely evening having intellectual conversations with an upscale street walker.

 

I've dropped a helmet from 4ft before. Helmet was fine and I continued to use it for multiple years.

If the shell checks out fine, shake his hand, have him cover a new visor, and call it good.

If he insists, then go with a reputable brand in the $300 range (AGV, Bell, etc) that fits your head shape and tell him to keep the rest.
