Reminds me of a FAC pilot in Vietnam.
We were on a supply run up North, listening to radio chatter when we heard a group of ground-pounders call for air support. They were taking heavy fire and needed some help. Several fly-boys responded but were either too far away or already light.
Finally, one pilot responded that he was less than two minutes away and heading to them.
The radio man responded, asking "What weapons are you carrying?"
The pilot said, "Standby one."
A few seconds later, he called down, "I've got a 12-gauge pump and my 38."
Now that, ladies and gentlemen, took BALLS!
