Navy SWCC boats captured by our new friends!

I'm surprised to not see a thread on this. So, here are my thoughts. I'm getting really geared up over this Iranian boat thing. Video shows some missing weapons from mounting points, but there are .50 cal guns on board. So why not fully armed, they did have at least a couple of guns for protection. Why would you surrender to smaller, less heavily armed craft? Were these boats crews stripped of their ammo? Supposedly the Iranians took their GPS gear. That is US Government property. Are we just going to allow the Iranians to take military property from us?? If they were left defenseless by not issuing ammunition....WTF!!! In that region??!! They just fired missile in close proximity of a carrier!! If that is the case, then leadership failed these men and woman. Have we forgotten that Iran killed more Americans than anyone in Iraq and Afghanistan by supplying weapons, training, and quite probably direct forces in both places? Have we forgotten everything the Iranians have done to us and the region for decades now?? WTF will it take for leadership to realize that they are not our friends, they do not want peace with us, that they will do anything they cant to harm us. I take that back, this is a leadership failure!!

 

They went into Iranian waters and got released the next day. It could've been worse.

 

I have issues with that. Especially since they have reportedly kept the GPS's from those craft. First off, boats and aircraft skirt lines all the time. Whether intentionally or not. In those cases, you generally give them a verbal alert, then an escort out. You do not just capture crew and equipment. Especially another military vessel that is armed. I also do not put much faith in what the Iranians say about penetrating their territorial waters. I would want to see collaboration of that before I put any faith in that statement. We could verify that by going through the GPS logs. Oh, no we cannot. Hmmmmm

Wrong, Iran has been supplying both sides of their border. The enemy of my enemy is my friend works both ways. It is very much an issue, and something did happen. Boat crews were held at gun point on US Navy vessels. That is a very big deal.

 

I'm not sure they were adrift. I've heard that stated as speculation, but nothing definitive. There is also video released by Iran of the weapons they did seize along with .50's mounted onboard the vessels. I really hate to say this, but I can completely see the Navy restricting them from having ammo for fear of a misfire.

In the mind of someone who is disconnected and arrogant, sure I can see how can say that. What you fail to grasp is that we have sailor all over the world. The protection of the ships, bases, and people is vital. If you change your cup to a teapot and open up even more, you will see that they have continued a series of escalating actions directly at our naval forces in the Persian Gulf. What happens the next time? Do one of our sailors get shot while having weapons on them? Does the fact that they just surrendered and embarrassed us around world inspire more actions? Do other countries see this and start to push their weight against us? It's very easy to minimize this if you've never had skin in the game.
