Can only speak for myself, but I prefer the outside of T10 before the tunnel. Love seeing / hearing bikes go from full throttle, banging downshifts under heavy braking before making the turn and then powering up the hill towards the bridge. Races are won or lost there quite often. Plus, you can normally see the jumbotron from there (binoculars help). Of course, many other good places to watch from as well.
Sorry but I disagree, plenty of people knew Steve from club racing in Cali before that. Yeah his career did take off but he didn't get a paid ride just from that one event. His career also didn't exactly skyrocket right then either. It has always taken more than just pure talent no matter what all the "good old days" people want to think. Yes, there is less money in the US for pro salaries and bonuses than there was but there is a shit ton more at the world level and there is a shitload more personal sponsorship opportunities out there. The riders just have to realize that professional racing isn't just about the riding.
No idea with who, he posted some leathers and a helmet and someone on the discord slid into those dm's and asked about him and Rocco said he was going.
Headed up tomorrow. Looks like we will be pitted up on pad 3. Gonna get a lot of hill work this weekend !
Yeah, 3 long-time friends (two team partners and one crew) from our '87 Genesis Racing year are traveling long distances to join us locals from the Genesis/Kayo Racing '88 team. It's going to be a great reunion weekend!
