County meeting last night and it was good. Cliff notes: Sale to Mitime was voted on and approved. The contract was amended stating that if the lawsuits filed by Centerpoint hold up the sale then MiTime will take the track on a lease deal until its all sorted out. Either way MiTime ends up with it. Races are already scheduled, 80% of the days are filled. MX track is being leveled as one of the first orders of business Hotel is being built on site Track is being brought back up to FIM standards 3/8 mile dirt oval is a go. Drag strip not connected to main track is a go. Rally X track is a go.
before they let the professionals at it, please lobby for a ceremonial "ribbon cutting" wherein the local roadracers have a go at that thing. i'm in with a sawzall and angle grinder for the armco. also, thanks for the consistent updates and really positive news.
I know nothing about Miller, so why is it good that the MX track is going away? Down here MX tracks pull in more riders than I see road racing or doing track days.
The MX track was built on the infield of the east course. It blocks the view of most of the track and the dust constantly blows off of it on to the track. Its not a safe situation.
agreed.... my work schedule sucks for track time, but i'm glad i'll have more opportunities next year to get out there... love riding it.
Funny I was there couple weeks ago racing on east course, did not even notice mx track when out there. Isn't mx track problem only on perimeter sweeper corner leading to attitudes?
For runoff issues it caused that's the only one I can think of. Probably cause a couple more for the full course. Then again I wouldn't run bikes on the east course by itself so I never looked at it from that perspective.
It blocks the view from the pit wall and tower. From pit wall you can only see Release, the straight and T1 then a glimpse of the attitudes.
