Slovenia is a good base for european manufacturing. For the most part. Some issues like that old communist mentality on work, logistics can be a pain and a small base of people you can employ. I love it there and if you ever get a chance to visit, do it. Vietnam is stealing a lot of business from China as is Singapore. Malaysia is a hassle. The biggest gainer over the China pull out is Mexico.
Its on the cover of the latest RRW but I haven't been able to read it yet. pretty exciting bike. I have the 1290 SD-R and it's a beast. I think if I wasn't so enamored with the power/torque the 790 might be calling my name. I think I'll wait a year or two, find one that's been crashed and see if I can outfit it with long travel Ohlins suspension, skid plate, 21" front/18" rear wheel and make my own 790 Super Enduro.
China is actually coming along pretty well in the tooling area. Surprisingly well actually. I think a lot of folks would be surprised at the capability of their honest market.
