600's are typical starter bikes, the 50cc extra prolly wont give you much more of an advantage, frankly.

learn on a shitty chassis and no power.

    then move up.

fun is all the same, except for the punch if you don't ride a 1000

    Most recent was a ZRX1200. previously, a jetted/modded 1st gen FZ1, 04 SV650, and a 89 Honda Hawk. all street riding, though.

I loved the SV, and think it would be a fun bike to learn on the track, and from what i've read, it seems like a really good option for starting out. I was just wondering about other options, as I'd like to try more bikes out.

Look at V7 and V8 legal bikes. You can still race them in C classes, but you can buy them cheap and not have to upgrade them constantly.

I should never have sold my F2

We'd all like to try out more bikes. :)
It almost sounds like a no-brainer, but the original question being what it is, I would ask "what class of racing holds your attention?"

Start out on a H2 triple. You learn to race that and you can race damn near anything:p Honestly, out of your choices given go with the SV

Jake not coming to defend his honor? Damn.

Yeah, hang with those LWT guys for a while and you end up thinking they're cool. Then you question why you're on a 600 and those guys are drinking beer in various hotel hot tubs and pools the night before a race. Next, you're considering swapping to LWT machinery because it's "cheaper". Nah, I will stick with my 600 for now.

For you, starting out, get the 650. You'll probably love it.
